DAY 1 – SATURDAY, MAY 8, 2021 – DEPART CANADA
Meet your fellow travelers at the departure gate in Toronto airport for your flight to Rome, Italy. (In-flight Meals)
DAY 2 – SUNDAY, MAY 9 – ROME, ITALY
Welcome to Rome! Upon arrival we will be met at the airport by our guide and private coach and transfer to your hotel. Tonight, we have our welcome dinner. Accommodation: HOTEL DELLA CONCILIAZONE or similar (3 nights). (D)
DAY 3 – MONDAY, MAY 10 – ROME, ITALY
Breakfast at the hotel. Enjoy a walking guided city tour of Rome, visiting many of the attractions and have the opportunity for photo stops. It will be followed by a lunch at a local restaurant. Afternoon and evening are at your leisure. Due to recent bus traffic restrictions, we will provide a walking tour, including transfers from/to each area. (B/L)
DAY 4 – TUESDAY, MAY 11 – ROME, ITALY
Breakfast at the hotel. After breakfast, enjoy a half-day guide tour of Vatican with a short walk from our hotel. Your discovery begins at the Vatican Museums with its immense collection built up by the Popes throughout the centuries. The itinerary includes the Pio Clementino Hall, the Laocoon and Apollo Belvedere, the Maps Gallery, the Candelabra Gallery, the Tapestries Gallery and the Sistine Chapel, where you will be admiring the breathtaking frescos by Michelangelo, one of the most celebrated masterpieces in the world. From the Museum you will exit directly into St Peter’s Basilica, the most important Christian Church in the world, heart of the Catholic religion. Tonight we meet again for our dinner. (B/D)
DAY 5 – WEDNESDAY, MAY 12 – ROME – VALLETTA, MALTA
After breakfast and check out from the hotel, transfer to the airport for the flight to Malta. Upon arrival we will be met at the airport by our guide and private coach and transfer to the hotel. Dinner will be at the hotel. Accommodation: GRAND HOTEL EXCELSIOR or similar (3 nights). (D)
DAY 6 – THURSDAY, MAY 13 – VALLETTA, MALTA
Breakfast at the hotel. Enjoy a full day guided tour to Valletta visiting many attractions, including: The Upper Barrakka Gardens, Grand Master’s Palace. St. John’s Co-Cathedral & Museum including the Caravaggio masterpieces in the Oratory and the Malta Experience audio-visual presentation. Lunch will be enjoyed at a local restaurant. Late afternoon transfer back to the hotel. Rest of the day is at your leisure. (B/L)
DAY 7 – FRIDAY, MAY 14 – VALLETTA, MALTA
Breakfast at the hotel. After breakfast, enjoy a full day guided tour visiting: Mdina, the Silent City, St. Paul’s Cathedral & Museum, Tales of the Silent City audio-visual montage, St. Paul’s Grotto and Church in Rabat, Hagar Qim Temple. Lunch will be at one of the local restaurants. Late afternoon transfer back to the hotel. Rest of the day is at your leisure. (B/L)
DAY 8 – SATURDAY, MAY 15 – VALLETTA, MALTA
Breakfast at the hotel. It is followed by a check-out from your hotel and we will take a short drive to board our private yacht the HARMONY G our home for the next 8 days. We will be docked overnight at the pier side in Valetta. (B/D)
Day 9 – SUNDAY, MAY 16 GOZO ISLAND, MALTA
Morning sailing to Gozo Island. Morning swim stop at one of Gozo’s beautiful beaches. Arrival in Gozo harbor after lunch. Optional excursion with visits of the Citadel and its baroque Cathedral, our Lady of Ta Pinu Basilica, the St George Basilica and the Cathedral Museum. Late in the afternoon, after a short wine tasting, we will return to the ship. Late night departure for Syracuse, Sicily. Overnight at sea. (B/L/D)
Day 10 – MONDAY, MAY 17 – SYRACUSE, SICILY
Early morning arrival in the port of Syracuse. Syracuse, one of the most and prestigious cities of the Hellenic World, was a rival of Athens. Our morning optional excursion will bring us to the spectacular 15,000-seat Greek theatre, the elliptical Roman Amphitheatre, the Archaeological Museum, the Temple of Apollo, the Fountain of Aretusa, and the Cathedral, which incorporates the remains of the famed Temple of Athena. After lunch you can take our afternoon optional excursion taking you inland, into Sicily’s southeast region, known for its baroque towns. You will visit exquisitely preserved Noto, a jewel of a town situated on plateau. Late in the evening we leave Syracuse for the Aeolian Islands. (B/L/D)
Day 11 – TUESDAY, MAY 18 – LIPARI ISLAND, SICILY
Morning arrival in Lipari, the largest of the Aeolian Islands, sitting on the red volcanic rock looking like a “wall of bronze”, according to the Greek poet Homer. Archaeological remains found here have yielded clues to civilizations which date back to 1700 BC, including the Neolithic stones that sit alongside ancient tombstones, and ruins of Greek walls and Roman villas. The Spaniards found their way here in the 16th century, building the Castello (castle) and the 17th century cathedral that is perched above the harbor; All these sights will be available for seeing them on your morning optional sightseeing excursion. Afternoon at leisure. Overnight in Lipari. (B/L/D)
Day 12 – WEDNESDAY, MAY 19 – VULCANO, PANAREA & STROMBOLI ISLAND, SICILY
We leave Lipari in the morning to reach Vulcano Island, famous for its majestic volcano crater and the mud baths. In the afternoon we sail to Panarea, a quaint old-style Aeolian Island. Late in the afternoon, we reach Panarea. After time at leisure in port, we gather for our traditional farewell dinner at anchor. In the evening we start our return trip to Catania and sail slowly past the island of Stromboli, famous for its live volcano. The sight of live lava eruptions is not to be missed. Overnight at sea. Day 13 – THURSDAY, MAY 20 – CATANIA, SICILY
Morning optional excursion to the Etna Volcano, the highest point in Sicily and a live volcano. A resident volcanologist will provide you with full details on its activity and volcano activity in South Italy. In the afternoon you can take our optional walking tour of Catania and discover the hidden treasures of this old Italian city. Overnight in port. (B/L/D)
Day 14 – FRIDAY, MAY 21 – CATANIA – TAORMINA, SICILY
Our day starts with an optional tour at nearby Taormina, a city with endlessly winding medieval streets and secluded gardens hidden by stone walls. Our optional full day excursion to this city boasting such beauty and history, features a stroll along the Corso Umberto, lined with piazza, Duomos and palazzo such as the Palazzo Santo Stefano. Later you will take a guided tour of the ancient Greek Theatre with wonderful uninterrupted views of the seal. Our lunch is followed by time at leisure to explore the city and its shops. After our farewell dinner, we start our return sailing to Malta. (B/L/D)
Day 15 – SATURDAY / MAY 22, 2021 – VALLETTA – DISEMBARKATION – DEPARTURE
After your breakfast we will disembark the yacht and transfer to the airport for our homebound flight. (B/In-flight Meals)
