Welcome to Chile! Meet and greet with our local representative and transfer to the hotel for accommodation. Tonight, we will have our special gourmet welcome dinner at the Como Agua para Chocolate restaurant. Renaissance Santiago Hotel offers a seasonal outdoor pool and free Wi-Fi in Santiago. Parque Arauco shopping center is very near to the hotel. The rooms have a contemporary and sophisticated décor. They have elegant patterned carpets and modern art on the walls. Day 3 – Saturday, January 20, 2018 SANTIAGO, CHILE
Breakfast at the hotel. Santiago de Chile is a city of contrasts with remains of its Colonial past to the ultramodern, high-rise buildings of the financial center. This tour offers you the possibility to see this eclectic mix for yourself. The tour begins by heading south through the downtown area, passing the Club Hípico, a beautiful horseracing track in the older residential area of the city. You then proceed alongside the Parque O’Higgins and the Cousiño Palace, built between 1870 and 1878 for the wealthy Cousiño family. From here you head along the famous Alameda, Santiago’s colourful main avenue, to the heart of the city, seeing the Chilean University, San Francisco Church and the Santa Lucia Hill, site of Santiago’s foundation in 1541. Then you will visit the Plaza de Armas and the cathedral. To round off the tour, you will pass through the modern residential areas of the city with their daring architecture and, finally, the bustling Providencia shopping zone. Lunch will be served at Prego San Pascual restaurant. Return to the hotel and the rest of the day is at leisure. (B/L)
Day 4 – Sunday, January 21, 2018 SANTIAGO, CHILE
Breakfast at the hotel. Today you will visit the famous Concha y Toro winery with lunch. Afternoon is at your leisure to enjoy Santiago’s many attractions. (B/L)
Day 5 – Monday, January 22, 2018 SANTIAGO – HANGA ROA, EASTER ISLAND
After early breakfast, transfer to the airport for your flight to Easter Island. Upon arrival, welcome by your local guide and transfer to the hotel for accommodation with dinner in the evening. The Altiplanico Hotel on Easter island is a World Heritage site. Easter Island is not only a place of surreal natural beauty but also a guardian of the mysteries of the Rapanui people, who continue to fascinate the world with its silent but majestic stone Moais. This isolated volcanic island in its oceanic setting combines the beauty of the landscape and its archeological enigmas that fuse together in a captivating and mysterious communion. You step on a hotel property of 1.5 ha. that has a panoramic view of the shoreline on one of the world’s most unique destinations. The hotel Altiplanico Rapa Nui is designed in the style of the traditional Easter Island boathouse, with luxurious gardens, a beautiful swimming pool viewing the sea and large open spaces to relax after encountering the seductive mysteries of the island. Day 6 – Tuesday, January 23, 2018 HANGA ROA, EASTER ISLAND
Breakfast served at the hotel. Starting the tour from your hotel, the tour will take you to the south-east and north-east part of the island to visit the Ahu Vaihu, a temple located 10 km from Hanga Roa and composed of a well-worked stone platform where Pukaos and 8 Moai are scattered nearby. Here is the Ahu Akahanga, formed by 4 platforms, 12 Moai and 8 Pukao. From here you can see one of the best-preserved villages of the island. Continues to the Rano Raraku volcanic crater formed of consolidated volcanic ash, Rano Raraku is a visual record of moai design vocabulary and technological innovation, where 397 moai remain. Lunch will be served at the hotel Taha Tai. Ahu Tongariki is the most surprising ahu on the island, with 15 huge moais . Ahu Te Pito Kura, has the largest statue erected on an Ahu, the moai Paro, 10 metres and weighing 85 tons. AHU is located next to a large stone ball which is identified with the centre of the world (Te Pito o Te Henua), which according to legend was brought by Hotu Matua. Ahu Nau has 5 moai with Pukao. The back of the moai and some stones from the rear wall have petroglyphs. During excavation an extraordinary eye pupil of white coral and red slag, is exhibited at the Museum of the Island. Finish the tour at Anakena beach with white sand and warm waters that also have their respective moais. Return to the hotel and enjoy a dinner and show at the local restaurant. (B/L/D)
Day 7 – Wednesday, January 24, 2018 HANGA ROA, EASTER ISLAND
Breakfast served at the hotel restaurant. We will visit Orongo. On this tour, you will visit the cave Ana Kai Tangata which on one of the walls stylized birds are drawn, representing Manutara (sea swallows) whose precious egg was the centre of the annual birdman competition. Sector Vinapu, is an archaeological site which has large slabs of balsato carefully made similarly to Cuzco Inca constructions. Rano Kau is a place where there is a lake with small islands of reeds and lush vegetation and micro fauna. Orongo is a ceremonial village where the Birdman ceremony was performed Bird Man who was appointed by the king and would be the spiritual and political leader during a period of one year. The sacred character of a human body shrunk with a large beak is sculpted on many engraved stones. Lunch will be served at the hotel Iorana. During this circuit, we visit Ahu Akiv which is one of the few platforms where the statues seem to look to the sea. The seven moai on platform are to represent the seven explorers sent by the king. After this visit, continue to Puna Pau a red scoria small crater in which were made the Pukao: hats or crowns of the moai. Finally, we will visit a particular platform with only one moai, but who has 20 fingers (or 4 hands) at Huri a Urenga. This platform is located at what we now consider the entrance of the Hanga roa town from the Anakena road. This last site, is replacing Te pahu Cave, as we are not able to visit it because of road problems. Dinner at the hotel. (B/L/D)
Day 8 – Thursday, January 25, 2018 HANGA ROA – BUENOS AIRES, ARGENTINA
Breakfast at the hotel. Morning is at your leisure. Box lunch will be offered before transfer to the airport. In the afternoon, transfer to the airport for your flight back to Santiago and connect to Buenos Aires, Argentina. Upon arrival, welcome by our local representative and transfer to the hotel. This Buenos Aires Hotel represents the sophisticated and classic style of this historical city. Located in a pedestrian area of Buenos Aires, the 5-star Intercontinental Buenos Aires Hotel offers a sundeck, an indoor heated swimming pool and a tennis court. This exclusive hotel was opened in 1998 and renovated in 2011. This hotel is situated 550 meters away from Plaza de Mayo, Cabildo and Recoleta. The hotel is set 350 meters away from Mayo Avenue, Florida Pedestrian street and The Obelisk of Buenos Aires. Day 9 – Friday, January 26, 2018 BUENOS AIRES, ARGENTINA
Breakfast at the hotel. Today enjoy a city tour of Buenos Aires. Which is a cosmopolitan city that shows the influence of the great number of immigrants that arrived to these shores. The tour commences at the historic Plaza de Mayo square, well known for its numerous political demonstrations, which is surrounded by Government House, best known as the “Pink House”; the Cabildo (the old City Hall) and the Metropolitan Cathedral. The “Avenida de Mayo”, which starts in this square, is an interesting set of buildings of varied styles that reflect the diversity of its inhabitants. Wide avenues and green areas appear constantly trying to slow down the rhythm of this vertiginous city. A sample of this is the 9 de Julio Avenue. In the middle of this avenue, in the “Plaza de la Republica”, the Obelisk arises as a symbol of the city. The visit continues towards the picturesque and colourful port neighbourhood of La Boca with its famous street, “Caminito”, whose architectonic characteristics reflect the culture of the European citizens that arrived to these shores at the end of the 19th century, mainly Genovese sailors. The Recoleta Cemetery, surprises the visitors for its rich architecture and the important personalities of the social and political Argentinean life, amongst whom are Eva Perón, whose remains lie there. Next to the cemetery is the church Nuestra Señora del Pilar, the Recoleta Cultural Center (previously a convent), Buenos Aires Design and the Palais de Glace. Return to the hotel. Afternoon at leisure. Evening dinner and tango show at Senor Tango. The most outrageous of them all, Señor Tango is the closest you’ll get to a Las Vegas show in Buenos Aires. With dozens of performers, live horses, two tiers of balconies and over 1500 seats, this granddaddy of tango shows is – for good or bad – an unforgettable experience. (B/D)
Day 10 – Saturday, January 27, 2018 BUENOS AIRES, ARGENTINA
Breakfast t the hotel. Full day Fiesta Gaucha at Estancia Santa Susana w/barbecue lunch. Departure to Estancia Santa Susana which has belonged to the Rossiter family since 1860. Its 1200 hectares are devoted mainly to agriculture as well as to cattle and horse breeding. A couple of years ago, the ‘estancia’ began welcoming visitors and adapting its facilities to that purpose. Upon arrival, a welcome drink with ’empanadas’ (meat pastries) will be served at the ‘pulpería’. Later, you will taste a typical Argentine barbecue (grilled beef, chicken, pork sausages, salads, dessert and coffee) in the dining-room. As lunch is finished you will enjoy a folklore show with live music, dancing and a tango demonstration. (B/L)
Day 11 – Sunday, January 28, 2018 BUENOS AIRES, ARGENTINA
Breakfast at the hotel. Morning visit to the San Telmo Market. Afternoon is at your leisure to enjoy this beautiful city, referred as the “Paris of the South” Tonight enjoy The Argentine Experience dinner. Day 12 – Monday, January 29, 2018 BUENOS AIRES – IGUASSU FALLS, ARGENTINA
Breakfast at the hotel. Transfer to the airport for your flight to Iguassu Falls. Arrival and transfer to the hotel for accommodation. Dinner will be served today at the hotel. Day 13 – Tuesday, January 30, 2018 IGUASSU FALLS, ARGENTINA
Breakfast at the hotel. Today you will enjoy a full day tour of Iguazu Falls (Argentinean side). The waterfalls are located in the Iguazú National Park and are one of the first protected areas in America and was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1984. The waterfalls have 275 jumps of water that fall from an average height of 70 meters. In this part of the sub-tropical forest, it is possible to see a wide variety of ferns, orchids, begonias, birds and butterflies and different native species. We will go to the Estación Central (Central Station), where we will get the train that goes to Estación Cataratas (Waterfalls Station) and/or to Estación Garganta del Diablo (Devil’s Throat Station). Departing from the Operative Center or from the Visitors’ Center, we shall enter the jungle by the Yacaratiá trail in trucks specially designed for this environment. This 5kms long stretch ends at Puerto Macuco. At its dock, visitors shall board boats that shall be sailing in the Lower Iguazu River for as long as 6 km. heading towards the waterfalls area, enjoying plentiful rapids. Upon reaching the Tres Mosqueteros Fall, visitors shall be able to see the falls of both the Argentine and Brazilian sides crowned by the view of the Garganta del Diablo (Devil’s Throat). Afterwards, the most exciting point comes when facing the incomparable San Martín waterfall, the second in dimension and the hugest any boat may face. At the end of the trip, we shall descend from the boat on the dock located in front of the San Martín Island, where visitors may continue enjoying the landscape joining the runways system of the Lower Circuit. Day 15 – Thursday, February 1, 2018 RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL
Breakfast at the hotel. Enjoy today a panoramic city tour and climb the Sugar Loaf Mountain. Over a million tourists every year visit the world famous Pão de Açúcar (Sugar Loaf Mountain), which has become an iconic symbol of the city of Rio de Janeiro. Rising from a small peninsula at the entrance of Guanabara Bay, its name is said to refer to its resemblance to the traditional shape of a concentrated refined sugar loaf. The first cable-car takes passengers to the top of Urca Hill, which rises 215 meters above sea level and offers spectacular views of the entire bay and its islands. From Urca Hill, passengers continue in a second cable car to the top of Sugar Loaf which rises 395 meters above sea level and offers a 360-degree view of the entire city including Botafogo and Copacabana Beaches, Corcovado and downtown Rio. Return to the hotel and the rest of the afternoon is at your leisure. Tonight, you will enjoy a gourmet dinner at Churrascaria Palace (buffet style) and after your dinner enjoy a Samba show at Plataforma. (B/D)
Day 16 – Friday, February 2, 2018 RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL
Breakfast at the hotel. Depart from the hotel to visit the Christ Statue, recently elected as one of the seven modern wonders of the world. The statue sits 2,300 ft. above sea level, atop Corcovado Hill. Following a scenic drive along the Rodrigo de Freitas Lagoon, we will arrive at the foot of the hill, where we embark on a small train which climbs the beautiful mountainside. Upon reaching the top, visitors will experience a panoramic view of Rio de Janeiro and discover why it is known as the “Marvelous City”! Lunch will be served at Martinez restaurant.
