Meet your host at the Toronto airport for your overnight flight departure to Santiago, Chile. 

Day 2 – Thursday / October 15                                  SANTIAGO, CHILE                                                                            (D)
Welcome to Chile!  Meet and greet with our local representative and enjoy a panoramic city tour.  Santiago de Chile is a city of contrasts with remains of its Colonial past to the ultramodern, high-rise buildings of the financial center; Chile’s capital city will surprise you.  This tour offers you the possibility to see this eclectic mix for yourself.   The tour begins by heading south through the downtown area, passing the Club Hípico, a beautiful horseracing track in the older residential area of the city.  You then proceed alongside the Parque O’Higgins and the Cousiño Palace, built between 1870 and 1878 for the wealthy Cousiño family. From here you head along the famous Alameda, Santiago’s colourful main avenue, to the heart of the city, seeing the Chilean University, San Francisco Church and the Santa Lucia Hill, site of Santiago’s foundation in 1541. Then you will visit the Plaza de Armas and the cathedral.  To round off the tour, you will pass through the modern residential areas of the city with their daring architecture and, finally, the bustling Providencia shopping zone. In the afternoon, you will check-in to your hotel.  Tonight, dinner will be served at a local restaurant.  Accommodation: HOTEL INTERCONTINENTAL or similar (2 nights). 

Day 3 – Friday / October 16                                       SANTIAGO – EASTER ISLAND, CHILE                                        (B/D)
Breakfast at the hotel followed by check out.  Transfer to the airport for your flight to Easter Island. Upon arrival, welcome by your local guide and transfer to the hotel for accommodation.  Dinner will be served at the hotel.  Accommodation: HOTEL ALTIPLANICO RAPA NUI or similar (3 nights).

Day 4 – Saturday / October 17                                   EASTER ISLAND                                                                                 (B/L/D)
Breakfast at the hotel.  Starting the tour from your hotel, the tour will take you to the south-east and north-east of the island to visit the Ahu Vaihu, a temple located 10 km from Hanga Roa composed of a well-worked stone platform where Pukaos are 8 and 8 Moai scattered nearby.  Here is the Ahu Akahanga, formed by 4 platforms, 12 Moai, 8 pukao.  From here you can see one of the best-preserved villages of the island. Continuing Rano Raraku volcanic crater formed of consolidated volcanic ash, Rano Raraku is a visual record of moai design vocabulary and technological innovation, where 397 moai remain.  Box lunch during the tour.  Ahu Tongariki, the most surprising ahu on the island, with 15 huge moais.  Ahu Te Pito Kura, has the largest statue erected on an Ahu is the moai Paro, 10 meters and 85 tons with 11.5 tons pukao.  It is to be believed that the last statue to be demolished by 1840.  AHU is located next to a large stone ball which is identified with the center of the world (Te Pito o Te Henua), which according to legend was brought by Hotu Matua ‘to your boat. Ahu Nau has 5 moai with Pukao and 2 broken.  The back of the moai and some stones from the rear wall have petroglyphs. During the excavations an extraordinary eye pupil with white coral red slag was found, is exhibited at the Museum of the Island.  Finish the tour at Anakena beach, white sand, warm waters whic also have their respective moais.  Return to the hotel and enjoy a dinner and show at the local restaurant. 

Day 5 – Sunday / October 18                                      EASTER ISLAND                                                                                 (B/L/D)
Continental breakfast is served at the hotel restaurant. We will visit Orongo, on this tour you will visit the cave Ana Kai Tangata, which on one of the walls are stylized birds representing Manutara (sea swallows) whose precious egg was the center of the annual birdman competition.  Sector Vinapu, archaeological site which has large slabs of fit balsato carefully made similarly to Cuzco Inca constructions.  Rano Kau is a place where is a lake with small islands of reeds and lush vegetation and micro fauna.  Orongo ceremonial village is where the Bird Man ceremony was performed appointed by the king to be the spiritual and political leader during a period of one year.  The sacred character of the human body shrunk and a large beak is sculpted on many engraved stones.  Lunch will be served at the hotel.  During this circuit we visit Ahu Akivi which is one of the few platforms where the statues seem to look to the sea, with seven moai on this is said to represent the seven explorers sent by the king to Hotu to Matu before colonization.  After this visit you will continue to Puna Pau where you will see a red scoria small crater in which were made the Pukao: hats or crowns of the moai.  Finally, we will visit a particular platform with only one moai, but who has 20 fingers (or 4 hands) at Huri a Urenga.  This statue is also peculiar because it is firmly aligned to the winter solsticio.  This platform is located at what we now consider the entrance of the Hanga roa town from the Anakena road.  Dinner will be served at the hotel.

Day 6 – Monday / October 19                                    EASTER ISLAND – SANTIAGO, CHILE                                       (B/L)
Breakfast at the hotel followed by check out.  Morning is at your leisure. Box lunch will be offered before transfer to the airport.  Upon arrival, you will be welcomed by our local representative and then transfer to the hotel for accommodation.  Accommodation: HOTEL INTERCONTINENTAL or similar (2 nights).

Breakfast at the hotel.   This morning we depart to Viña del Mar, Valparaiso with lunch and wine tasting.  Viña del Mar, the Garden City is the most luxurious resort town, with its paradisiacal beaches and the most important beach resort in Chile, and one of the principal ones of South America.  Viña Del Mar’s has a languorous tropical ambiance with its grand avenues lined with palms and banana trees, its vast soft stretches of white sand beach and its sybaritic plenitude of gourmet restaurants.  Enjoy a lunch at a local restaurant.  While Vina’s celebrity has brought it any number of sleek, modern buildings, the character of the town is set by its many charming colonial houses.  Perhaps the most romantic way to tour Viña del Mar’s tranquil streets is via Victoria, the region’s traditional horse-drawn carriages. The city of Valparaiso is a picturesque city, rich in native architecture and a inspiration for artists and poets. It has been declared a Cultural Heritage of Humanity.  It is located at 120 kilometers (almost 75 miles) from Santiago. Once in Valparaiso, we will see the picturesque houses and the cable cars. The outlook viewpoint of the Mirador 21 de Mayo, one of the many in the city allows for a magnificent view over the bay of Valparaiso City.  Before returning to your hotel, stop at Casas del Bosque winery for a visit and wine tasting.  Return to the hotel.  Tonight, dinner will be at the Como Agua para Chocolate.

Day 8 – Wednesday / October 21                             SANTIAGO – BUENOS AIRES, ARGENTINA                             (B/L)
Breakfast at the hotel followed by check out.  Morning at leisure followed by transfer to the airport.  Afternoon, transfer to the airport for your flight to Buenos Aires.  Upon arrival, welcome by our local representative and transfer to the hotel for accommodation.   Accommodation: HOTEL RECOLETA GRAND or similar (4 nights).

Day 9 – Thursday / October 22                                  BUENOS AIRES, ARGENTINA                                                     (B/D)
Breakfast at the hotel.  Today enjoy a city tour of Buenos Aires, a cosmopolitan city that shows the influence of the great number of immigrants that arrived here.  The tour commences at the historic Plaza de Mayo square, well known for its numerous political demonstrations. It is surrounded by the Government House, best known as the “Pink House”; the Cabildo (the old City Hall) and the Metropolitan Cathedral.  The “Avenida de Mayo”, which starts in this square, is an interesting set of buildings of varied styles that reflect the diversity of its inhabitants.  Wide avenues and green areas appear constantly trying to slow down the rhythm of this vertiginous city.  A sample of this is the 9 de Julio Avenue; in the middle of this avenue. In the “Plaza de la Republica”, the Obelisk arises as a symbol of the city.  The visit continues towards the picturesque and colourful port neighbourhood of La Boca with its famous street, “Caminito”, whose architectonic characteristics reflect of the culture the European citizens that arrived on these shores at the end of the 19th century, mainly Genovese sailors.  The Recoleta cemetery, surprises the visitors for its rich architecture and the important personalities of the social and political Argentinean life, amongst whom are Eva Perón, whose remains lie there.  Next to the cemetery is the church Nuestra Señora del Pilar, the Recoleta Cultural Center (previously a convent), Buenos Aires Design and the Palais de Glace.  Return to the hotel.  Afternoon at leisure.  Evening, dinner and tango show at Senor Tango.  The most outrageous of them all, Señor Tango is the closest you’ll get to a Las Vegas show in Buenos Aires. With dozens of performers, live horses, two tiers of balconies, this granddaddy of tango shows is an unforgettable experience.

Day 10 – Friday / October 23                                      BUENOS AIRES, ARGENTINA                                                       (B/L)
Breakfast at the hotel.   Today enjoy a full day Fiesta Gaucha at Estancia Santa Susana with barbecue lunch.  Departure to Estancia Santa Susana which has belonged to the Rossiter family since 1860.  Its 1200 hectares are devoted mainly to agriculture also to cattle and horse breeding.  A couple of years ago the ‘estancia’ began welcoming visitors adapting its facilities to that purpose.  Upon arrival a welcome drink with ’empanadas’ (meat pastries) will be served at the ‘pulpería’. Later, you will taste a typical Argentine barbecue (grilled beef, chicken, pork sausages, salads, dessert and coffee) in the dinning-room.  As lunch is finished you will enjoy a folklore show with live music and dancing and a tango demonstration.

Day 11 – Saturday / October 24                                 BUENOS AIRES, ARGENTINA                                                       (B/D)
Breakfast at the hotel.  Enjoy a full day at your leisure in this beautiful city also known as “Paris of the south”.  Tonight, enjoy The Argentine Experience dinner.  A gourmet three-course meal with a twist, the Argentine experience serves up the best of Argentine cuisine and culture with a slice of international perspective.  Argentinian culture is very much centered around communal dining, which is exactly what we provide – a warm, inviting space where you will meet fellow travelers from all around the world, along with local Argentines who want to show off their culture the best way possible, through food!

Day 12 – Sunday / October 25                                   BUENOS AIRES – IGUASSU FALLS, ARGENTINA                   (B/D)
Breakfast at the hotel followed by check out.  Transfer to the airport for your flight to Iguassu Falls.  Upon arrival transfer to the hotel for accommodation after visiting the Hito 3 Fronteras point view.  The Triple Frontier is a tri-border area along the junction of Paraguay, Argentina and Brazil, where the Iguazú and Paraná rivers converge.  Dinner will be served today at the hotel.  Accommodation: HOTEL PANORAMIC GRAND or similar (3 nights).

Day 13 – Monday / October 26                                  IGUASSU FALLS, BRAZIL                                                                (B/L)
Breakfast at the hotel.  Depart from the hotel crossing the International Bridge Tancredo Neves, also known as Fraternity Bridge, which joins the cities of Puerto Iguazú (Argentina) and Foz de Iguazú (Brazil). On both sides of the bridge a migratory formality must be performed.  The trip continues towards the Parque Nacional do Iguaçu, which has an extension of 185.000 hectares, up to the visitor´s center.  From here, the itinerary is carried out in auto-cars which begin the trip inside the park and continue to the beginning of the footbridges that extend for 1200 meters over the cliffs of the Río Iguazú.  From here, it is possible to obtain a panoramic view of the falls that are on the Argentinean side.  It is an ideal place to take photographs.  Continuing with the trip, visitors can see the Rio Iguazú Canyon, and the Rivadavia and Three Musketeers Waterfalls, among others.  Towards the end of the way, visitors arrive at the lower Devil’s Throat viewpoint located about 200 meters away.  This wonderful scenery is enhanced by the permanent formation of rainbows. The walk ends next to the Salto Floriano, where there is an elevator that leads to the parking level of the auto-cars.  After lunch at Belmond Das Cataratas hotel, the excursion continues with a visit to the Itaipu Dam, considered a masterpiece of engineering shared by Brazil and Paraguay, located over the el Río Paraná.  It is located fifty kilometers away from the waterfalls.  After making a short stop at the interpretation center, where a documentary film is shown on the construction of the reservoir, the vehicles start their tour of about 40 minutes around the dam.  Along the way, visitors can get to know, with the help of the guides, the main parts of the dam: the spillway, the retaining wall and the engine room where the turbines are.  The highest point on the retaining wall is visited, where it is possible to observe the splendid lake that is formed by the damming up of the water.  Return back to your hotel late afternoon, evening is at your leisure.

Day 14 – Tuesday / October 27                                  IGUASSU FALLS, ARGENTINA                                                      (B/L/D)
Breakfast at the hotel.  Today you will enjoy a full day tour of Iguazu Falls (Argentinean side).  The waterfalls are located in the Iguazú National Park and are one of the first protected areas in America and have been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1984.  The waterfalls have 275 jumps of water that fall from an average height of 70 meters.  In this part of the sub-tropical forest, it is possible to see a wide variety of ferns, orchids, begonias, birds and butterflies and different native species. We will go to the Estación Central (Central Station), where we will get the train that goes to Estación Cataratas (Waterfalls Station) and/or to Estación Garganta del Diablo (Devil’s Throat Station).  Departing from the Operative Center or from the Visitors’ Center, we shall enter the jungle by the Yacaratiá trail in trucks specially designed for this environment.  This 5-kilometer long stretch ends at Puerto Macuco.  At its dock, visitors shall board on the boats that shall be sailing in the Lower Iguazu River for as long as 6 kilometers, heading towards the waterfalls area, enjoying plentiful rapids.  Upon reaching the Tres Mosqueteros Fall, visitors shall be able to see the falls of both the Argentine and Brazilian sides crowned by the view of the Garganta del Diablo (Devil’s Throat).  Afterwards, the most exciting point comes when facing the incomparable San Martín waterfall, the second in dimension and the hugest any boat may face.  At the end of the trip, we shall descend from the boat on the dock located in front of the San Martín Island, where visitors may continue enjoying the landscape joining the runways system of the Lower Circuit.  Lunch at El Fortin restaurant.  It’s followed by a great adventure boat tour, that will be a highlight of your day.  Dinner will be at the hotel.

Day 15 – Wednesday / October 28                            IGUASSU FALLS – RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL                           (B/D)
Breakfast at the hotel, followed by check out.  Transfer to the airport in Foz do Iguacu (Brazil) to catch your flight to Rio de Janeiro.  Upon arrival in Rio de Janeiro, you will be welcomed by our local representative and transferred to the hotel.  Dinner will be served at the hotel.  Accommodation: HOTEL PORTOBAY INTERNACIONAL or similar (3 nights).

Day 16 – Thursday / October 29                               RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL                                                               (B/D)
Breakfast at the hotel.  Today, enjoy a panoramic city tour and climb the Sugar Loaf Mountain.  Over a million tourists every year visit the world famous Pão de Açúcar (Sugar Loaf Mountain), which has become an iconic symbol of the city of Rio de Janeiro.  Rising from a small peninsula at the entrance of Guanabara Bay, its name is said to refer to its resemblance to the traditional shape of concentrated refined sugar loaf.  The first cable-car takes passengers to the top of Urca Hill, which rises 215 meters above sea level and offers spectacular views of the entire bay and its islands.  From Urca Hill, passengers continue in a second cable car to the top of Sugar Loaf which rises 395 meters above sea level and offers a 360-degree view of the entire city including Botafogo and Copacabana Beaches, Corcovado and downtown Rio.  Return to the hotel and the rest of the afternoon is at your leisure.  Dinner at Churrascaria Palace is followed by a live Samba show. 

Day 17 – Friday / October 30                                    RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL                                                               (B/L)
Breakfast at the hotel.  Depart from the hotel to visit the Christ Statue, recently elected as one of the seven modern wonders of the world.  The statue sits 2,300 ft. above sea level, atop Corcovado Hill.  Following a scenic drive along the Rodrigo de Freitas Lagoon, we will arrive at the foot of the hill, where we embark on a small train which climbs the beautiful mountainside. Upon reaching the top, visitors will experience a panoramic view of Rio de Janeiro and discover why it is known as the “Marvelous City”.  Lunch will be served at a local restaurant.  Return to the hotel and the rest of the afternoon is at your leisure.

Breakfast at the hotel.   Morning at leisure with check out from the hotel at noon.  Enjoy a late lunch at a local restaurant before we say goodbyes to our travelling friends during this exciting trip. Transfer to the airport for your home flight.
